Weekend Yardperson

We are looking for 1 student to work part time starting immediately, or in the near future. Most of the work is in the weekends, (we are a 7-day business), but there is also opportunity for work in their holidays. It is preferable the student is currently at the beginning of their studies, as we are looking for someone to continue the part time work with through the period of their studies. They would need to be available Saturdays and/or Sundays on a reasonably regular basis and would typically work between 3 – 5 days per month. We generally have good flexibility with the roster.
The role is in the yard - very customer focused and there are some physical aspects, (e.g. assisting loading pavers, bagging aggregates) - so the person will have to be of good health. There is a requirement for the student to become proficient on a loader and forklift after training.
The Yardperson role includes:
Loading customers with pavers and landscape products Giving customers advice on Paving and Landscape Supplies products Preparing the yard for the upcoming week of trade General maintenance and tidying in yard.
Our student employees also help us at shows and exhibitions we display at. The main events we participate at are the Canterbury Show and some Christchurch Home shows. This work involves the setting up of our site (very practical) and then manning the site during the show.
