Warehouse And Logistics Manager

Details of the offer

About the Company:This is a challenging and exciting opportunity for an experienced Warehouse and Logistics Manager to join a new team running an established business that is growing exponentially. This role reports to the Head of Operations and Supply Chain for a business unit that is part of a major Australasian marketing and distribution group. This is not a role for the faint hearted and complexity and variety abounds. The warehouse provides distribution services to the FMCG sector, to the parent group’s own brands, on a third party basis to a major consumer brand, and will also manage the relationship with Australian 3PL providers distributing product in that market. You will have 4 direct reports and a team of between 30-40 indirect reports.
About the Role:In recent months a number of related businesses have been consolidated onto one site in the Auckland airport district. This includes a small manufacturing/packaging operation. A number of staff did not make the move to the new site due to Auckland traffic considerations and so a considerable amount of institutional knowledge has been lost to the business. The major challenge will be to establish a new culture on the site and to improve systems and processes to maximise efficiencies. This is more easily said than done but you will have the full backing of management at the local and group level to succeed. We will provide a full position description to potential candidates outlining specific responsibilities and accountabilities.
About You:Suitable candidates will most likely have a relevant tertiary qualification combined with at least 5 years’ demonstrated experience (ideally within the FMCG sector) in a medium to large sized warehousing and distribution business. You will need to be a positive motivator and manager of staff with the ability to build and develop a cohesive team performing to its best. Technical skills such as knowledge of large company ERP systems, an understanding or training in Six Sigma and project management, the ability to analyse information and generate meaningful performance measures utilising Excel spread sheets or BI tools, experience with budgeting and financials, and the ability to contribute at both the hands-on functional level and to strategic considerations is essential. Above all you will be flexible, adaptable, resilient and have the ability to maintain a sense of humour under pressure. It is a challenging role !
How to Apply
This is an excellent opportunity to develop your logistics career and really make your mark. Career development and future opportunities are available in the greater Group. Remuneration will consist of a competitive salary that will reflect your existing skill and experience base plus Kiwisaver contribution. Please make confidential enquiries to Alex Meldrum on 021 630 638 or click the Apply Now button.
