Veterinarian (Veterinarian Technical Supervisor 2) - Invercargill North
The Team Manager Establishment for Invercargill North is looking for a Veterinary Technical Supervisor 2 to join the team!
Korero mo te turanga - About the Role
Blue Sky Meats is an independent operator processing ovine, bobby calves and occasionally goats. This position is made up of a 3-veterinarian team and you will be part of an onsite work roster (4 x 10) which include the nightshift and some weekend work.
You will be a clear communicator and have the ability to build strong relationships with stakeholders. You will also have a desire to create a working environment which enables the operator to optimise their ownership of compliance as MPI Verifications Services implements it's key initiative; Triple O (Optimising Operator Ownership).
Blue Sky Meats is located in Morton Mains which is 25 kms north of Invercargill. The relaxed pace of life, friendly people and little traffic make Southland an easy place to live. As well as great facilities in Invercargill, or a bit further north in Gore, the location is in easy reach of the Catlins, Fiordland, Queenstown and central Otago.
The purpose of this position is to undertake verification activities in line with current legislation and organisational requirements, thereby permitting the issue of official assurances.

Reporting to the Team Manager Establishment Invercargill North, the role sits within the Establishment group of the Verification Services directorate. MPI Verification Services (MPI VS) provides a range of food safety and biosecurity verification and certification services to support market access strategies and setting standards.

A Qualified and registered Veterinarian
Knowledge of the principles and practices associated with HACCP, Quality Assurance systems, Risk Management Systems
Verbal and written skills, verbal and analytical reasoning skills
Integrity and trust, ethics and values, resilience, adaptability and openness
Persuading and influencing, team work, planning and organising
Computer literacy – can operate standard and customised software to an acceptable standard e.g. word-processing, excel, internet, email, database, secure sites, electronic certification, residues etc
An understanding of basic food technology
A willingness to embrace the Verification Services Triple O way of working
