Our kaimahi all have a common goal - helping people realise their potential with the aim of supporting people to live their best life as independently as possible.
Our Tohu Ora, a residential service working under the Intellectual Disability (Compulsory Care and Rehabilitation) Act 2003, is looking for a passionate, assertive, confident, and compassionate Support Worker with experience in working with clients with Intellectual Disability to join our Service.
The focus of this role is to empower and support Tangata Whaiora to be independent, maintain their wellness and achieve their goals as we walk alongside them and assist in any way possible. You'll work to support clients with their medication, taking them to work and appointments, and helping them to gain employment and reach their goals.
You'll support and encourage their engagement in planned activities and collaborate with our Care Managers to create and implement reintegration plans.
This role is permanent full-time role 8 Hours per day (40 hours per week) based in Avonhead, Christchurch.
The hours for this service are on a rotating roster Monday to Sunday and include working a mix of AM, PM and Sleep Over shifts between: 7am-3:30pm and 2:30pm-11pm as well as a sleepover shift from 11pm-7:00am.
The role is covered under Pay Equity and remunerates between $24.36 and $29.10 per hour.

You'll be a natural problem solver and enjoy connecting with the community in line with our client's reintegration plan.
Communication skills are vital in this role and a level of fitness is required to encourage and participate in activities with Tangata Whaiora.
To be successful in this role you need to be a team player who enjoys learning about other cultures and bring along the minimum requirements:
Experience working in the community and/or within social services sectorMin 2 years' experience working with people with Intellectual DisabilitiesLevel 4 certificate in Health & Disability (or higher) and/or Health & Wellbeing Certificate Level 4Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to assist clients with relaxation and coping techniquesThe ability to remain calm, practical, and rational when in complex situations or incidentsAvailable to work Monday to Sunday on a rotating roster (mornings, evenings, weekends and public holidays)A full New Zealand Driver's LicenseIn addition to driving change within your community, you'll be doing so in a national organisation with opportunities for you to grow and develop.
