About Kainga Ora - Homes and Communities
Kainga Ora - Homes and Communities brings together the three existing agencies of Housing New Zealand, HLC and KiwiBuild to form a new organisation.
Kainga Ora - Homes and Communities is central to the Government's aspirations for housing and urban development. It will work across the housing spectrum to build thriving communities where everyone has a place to call home.
This new organisation will have two key roles:being a public housing landlord, and partnering with the development community, iwi, and local and central government to deliver urban development projects of all sizes.
The anticipated start date for this new organisation is 1st October 2019.

The role
Our vision is 'Building lives and communities by housing New Zealanders.' To help achieve this, we require a Tenancy Manager to join our Timaru-based team. In this role you will be responsible for managing a portfolio of properties, and will hold integral relationships with our tenants. You will be sensitive to the needs of a diverse range of communities and cultures, and will enjoy working on your own initiative.
Our teams consist of people who are passionate about making a difference. We work together to achieve our goals, we help one another, are positive and enthusiastic in everything that we do.
To be a good fit for this role, you will be self-managing, self-motivated, enthusiastic and be able to work in a team and a mobile environment. You will have the ability to think on your feet, make quality decisions, and solve problems to help our tenants.
What you'll need to bring:
An ability to provide exceptional customer service
An understanding of social housing and its complexities
Expertise in time management and organisation skills
The skills to manage conflict and de-escalate situations
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
A full and clean driver's licence
Ability to travel frequently (vehicle provided)
A sound working knowledge of the Residential Tenancies Act (preferred)
