Job Description We currently have an opening for a part-time (18.75 hours per week) Technician role within the Faculty of Creative Arts and Industries, School of Music.

About the Role

The successful candidates will be working alongside students, technicians and academic staff, in a busy team environment. There is an emphasis on advising and assisting on sound and lighting technical matters, instructing in best practice and a strong focus on health and safety.

Skills and Experience

Our ideal candidate will:

- Be proficient with sound recording principals and have an in-depth knowledge of sound recording software (esp. Protools and Logic)
- Be a confident user of Mac, which is essential
- Be able to set up and operate a sound system, live mixing of events and concerts, be capable of shooting and editing video, and setting up AV gear including laptops, speakers & projectors.
- Bring some interest in multiple musical genres e.g. Classical, Jazz, Pop and experimental, would be very beneficial.
- Have strong communications skill, as you will be working with a wide range of people

As part of this role, you must be comfortable working at heights and have an understanding of lighting principles. Relevant health and safety guidelines around rigging and running of performance venues would be highly desirable, as would the ability to program and operate an ETC lighting console.
