About the organisation The External Reporting Board (XRB) is an Independent Crown entity responsible for the development and issuing of accounting, auditing and assurance, climate-related and sustainability reporting standards, and guidance in New Zealand. We are committed to ensuring New Zealand prospers through effective decision making informed by high-quality, credible, and integrated reporting. About the role The Technical Director Accounting Standards is a senior member of the accounting standards function in developing accounting standards that align with and deliver on the XRB's broader strategic objectives . As the Technical Director, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the high quality and completeness of the XRB's Accounting Standards. Your responsibilities will extend to providing strategic leadership and oversight to the Accounting Team's standard-setting activities. Collaboration with your manager, the Director Accounting Standards, will be essential to align these activities with the organisation's broader strategic objectives. In your capacity as Technical Director, you will be entrusted with the crucial task of monitoring and managing the delivery of standard-setting projects carried out by the Accounting Standards Team. Additionally, you will be responsible for driving the reporting of trusted, relevant, and informative information through constituent engagements. This role also offers the unique opportunity to contribute thought leadership to the for-profit sector and/ or Public Sector, and actively pursue avenues to influence international accounting standards. Your role will also involve leading high-priority projects, acting as the Project Manager. In this capacity, you will be expected to conduct various tasks, including research, technical analysis, constituency engagement, standard finalisation, and quality control processes. This multifaceted role will challenge you to ensure that projects are executed comprehensively and efficiently. These responsibilities will be carried out with a clear focus on maintaining the integrity of accounting standards and advancing the financial reporting landscape.
