The Parks, Sport and Recreation (PSR) business unit is a high performing, multifunctional unit responsible for a wide range of business outputs. We provide indoor and outdoor sport, recreation and play opportunities, protect and enhance our natural environment and work in partnership with our sporting, recreation and environmental communities to contribute to Wellington's reputation as an active, healthy and attractive place to live, work, play and visit.
The Parks Operations team provide a critical customer facing support service, ensuring the city's residents and visitors enjoy a well managed and maintained environment. Collectively providing professional expertise and quality service - making a safe, clean, useable environment for our communities. The Sportsfields team play a pivotal role to much of this mahi, achieving high quality playing surfaces, providing healthy and positive experiences for our community.
As the Team Leader, Natural Surfaces you will help manage the planning and maintenance of natural surfaces for a mixed level of sporting codes within Wellington City. The role will deliver planned business outputs, manage staff and contracts associated with this function, and ensure that customer service and relationship management goals are met.

You'll have a Level 4 National Certificate in Sports Turf Management, or equivalent industry experience and ideally Growsafe Certification, a full NZ Drivers License and HT licence as well as a current first aid certificate.
You'll also have strong demonstrable knowledge of and experience in:
Turf management (minimum of four years)Staff leadership and management experienceThe correct and regular fertilisation, herbicide, insecticide and turf disease control applicationsStrong interpersonal skills with the ability to foster good stakeholder relationships through consultation and partnershipExcellent written and oral communication skills, particularly the ability to communicate clearly, concisely and in plain languageDelivery of excellent customer serviceThe ability to obtain NZQA trainer and assessorIf you'd like to know more about the role and the team, contact Gus Anderson, Team Manager Sportsfields ****** or 0212278210
