About The opportunity | Ko te aheinga: The HBRC Compliance team actively promotes, monitors and investigates compliance with the Resource Management Act (RMA) and associated regulations and takes appropriate action when required. The team has the capability to lead and supervise enforcement investigations and prepare and present expert evidence in the Environment Court. A key function of this team is providing guidance, education and advice on compliance matters to our stakeholders, including members of our community, tangata whenua, and resource consent holders around the sustainable use of natural resources and how to meet their compliance obligations.
The team need a dynamic, motivated individual with strong leadership experience and a passion for people to join us as a Team Leader for our rural compliance portfolio. About you | E pa ana ki a koe: To be successful in this role, you will need to show excellent communication skills, creative problem solving and the ability to thrive in a fast paced and ever-changing environment! You will be responsible for providing leadership and management to our capable and enthusiastic Rural Compliance team, coaching them to succeed and develop. A key element of the role is the support of a team-based culture so leadership experience is essential. Alongside this, you will build collaborative working relationships wherever you go, undertaking community engagement, innovation, and continuous improvement to align people with the regulatory framework.
Ideally, you will also have:
Relevant qualification in Resource Management, Science, or a related discipline plus significant experience in a relevant industry, such as farming or forestry.Experience working in the Resource Management field a related area of practice would be beneficial, ideally with experience in managing, monitoring, and enforcement of regionally significant activities and industriesProven experience in leadership and management roles, preferably in a regulatory environment.Demonstrate excellent organisational and strategic planning abilities, along with experience in managing budgets and meeting reporting requirements.Resilience, adaptability, and flexibility to keep up with the ever-changing nature of HBRCThe salary range for this role will depend on your level of qualification and experience.
