Nga kawenga | About the role
As the Custodial/Tactical Operations Coordinator, your role is to provide seamless support to the Custodial/Tactical Operations Group, enabling the Department to provide day to day support to prisons, delivery core training, and effectively prepare for, respond to, and recover from emergencies, encompassing both serious prison incidents and natural calamities.
You will play a crucial role in coordinating administration and logistics for the Specialist Search, Tactical Operations, Emergency Management and Prison Negotiation functions, and bolstering the national response to significant events and emergencies.
This is an exciting role, with a huge amount of variety. Some of your day-to-day tasks will include: Facilitating logistics arrangements for the team – including dogs and specialist functions and equipment. Managing the generation and processing of invoices, purchase orders, and contracts. Managing inventory for centrally and locally held specialist equipment. Ensuring the smooth operation of the National Coordination Centre (NCC). Supporting and monitoring the Use of Force reporting processes. Coordinating support activities for the functions, including supporting training delivery logistics. Managing and coordinating logistics requirements for specialist functions day to day, and in response. Assisting in the administration and coordination of project and governance meetings. In extreme cases, you may be required to work for extended periods outside of normal business hours.

Submit your application online and include highlights and examples as to how you meet the below requirements: Exceptional organisation, capable of managing multiple work streams to meet deadlines. A natural curiosity and drive to enhance systems and processes to support workflow management, data sets and reporting. Ability to establish and maintain practical systems to manage own workload and information to ensure that priorities are recognised, and deadlines are met. Research proficiency in emergency management, offering advice and recommendations. Attention to detail, producing quality work suitable for executive-level discussions. Experience handling sensitive information with integrity. An advanced level of computer skills including the Microsoft office suite – you don't need to know what VBA is, but you need be confident with VLOOKUP and cross-referencing data sets. A qualification in CIMS3 would also be desirable, but not necessary. Some travel may be necessary to fulfil the requirements of the position and for this reason you must have a Full New Zealand Driver's Licence.
Utu a-tau | Salary
The midpoint of the salary range is $73,673 and the full range (85%-120%) is $62,623 - $88,408. Appointment and remuneration will reflect skills and experience relevant to the role.
