Te whiwhinga mahi| The Opportunity The Sustainability team within the Office of the Chief Executive brings to life our strategy and approach to sustainability, and unites contributions from across the organisation. Our aim is to integrate sustainability principles and practices across Health NZ, with the team monitoring and reporting on the organisation's overall sustainability performance. The Sustainability Advisor role provides expert technical advice and support to managers on sustainability priorities across subject areas such as waste, infrastructure, transport, climate risk and Te Ao Maori approaches. It coordinates the best practice delivery of sustainability work programmes across the local area. This is a permanent full-time role based in Te Waipounamu, South Island, with a strong preference for the role to operate from Otepoti | Dunedin, but open to the role operating predominately from another major hospital site in the South Island such as Whakatu | Nelson or Otautahi | Christchurch. You are passionate about sustainability and have several years of post-qualification experience in a sustainability specialist role, supporting and delivering sustainability for your organisation. Relationship building with senior stakeholders inside and outside the organisation is a vital aspect to this role, so you'll be able to demonstrate your ability to build rapport and trust at all levels. Your knowledge, energy and enthusiasm are key and will translate well to an ability to bring people along with you. Whatu is also a direct reference to the pupil of the eye, and the vision required of the new entity and system. At Health NZ we acknowledge and respect our people's diversity and spiritual needs, ensuring a safe workplace that is a whanau orientated and supportive environment. We are working towards a system that better meets the complex demands of a growing population, addresses the persistent inequalities experienced by Maori and ensures greater access, experience and outcomes for those traditionally not well served by the system – Maori, Pacific and Disabled People. When you join us, you become part of transforming the health system. This is a once in a lifetime change, that will touch the lives of everyone in Aotearoa, and future generations. We want to see the real you in your application and welcome the real you on board if you come and work with us. Skills are gained across many areas of our life, not just in formal employment.
