*SURFACING SUPERVISOR - Based in Cromwell
JCL are a well established, South Island business specialising in providing asphalt & chipseal solutions to our clients. We offer a full package experience from initial construction through to the finished surface. With 40 staff across two branches, we deliver a range of projects from foothpaths, driveways and tennis courts through to large scale roading projects. Due to the resignation of a long term staff member, we are seeking a passionate, experienced and highly capable Supervisor to join our team.
Reporting to the Managing Director who splits his time between CHCH and Cromwell, you will assist in programming the work, be responsible for pre checking all sites to ensure they are ready for seal (including measure ups), order materials and organise plant/labour requirements for jobs, conduct detailed and effective pre start meetings, assist the Foreman in ensuring quality delivery of work (making sure there are no remedials), deliver competency testing and training to staff all while working closely with our Estimator to guarantee client satisfaction. Other tasks involve investigation and close out of H&S events, documentation and recording of numbers for final invoicing and we are looking for someone who isn't afraid to be hands on and join the crew on the tools if required.
A good knowledge (and preferably, hands on experience) of construction and surfacing is absolutely essential. Ideally you will have been in a similar role previously and will be able to demonstrate a high level of organisation and leadership. A class 2 license (or higher) and WTR is an essential . You will be able to communicate effectively, lead by example and have a good level of computing ability (excel, tablets, project management software etc).
