Survivor Experiences Service Te Tari Taiwhenua will provide continued support to survivors of abuse in care through the Survivor Experiences Service from July 2023, following the closure of the survivor registrations and private sessions services delivered by the Abuse in Care Royal Commission of Inquiry.
The Survivor Experiences Service will provide a safe, supportive, confidential place for survivors to share their experiences of abuse in care, to support healing.
Te Tari Taiwhenua will house and support the Service, which will be overseen by an independent board.
Survivor experiences shared with the service can be brought together to deepen understanding of abuse in care and how to prevent it. In sharing their experiences, survivors may also be referred to other services.
The Service will run from July 2023 through to the introduction of a new, permanent redress system in 2025.
Support Specialist role As the Support Specialist you will deliver high-quality survivor focused case management services as part of our Contact and Support Services team. 
You will ensure the immediate safety of those who contact us, ensuring that they have all the information they need to participate in our service, and that they receive a package of care to suit their individual needs and values. 
You will maintain and utilising your strong administration skills, updating our records management system after each engagement with a survivor, creating and editing documentation, all while maintaining a strong focus and awareness of Privacy Principals and the Privacy Act. 
To be successful in this role you will have:
A case management and or contact centre background preferably in a community or mental health settingStrong interpersonal skills including conflict resolution, relationship management and the ability to positively influence othersDemonstrated well developed self-management skills with the ability to stay calm and focused in challenging situationsGood organisational skills, including time management and administration along with the ability multi-tasking Proficient in diversity and inclusion, and promotes inclusive approaches around tikanga Maori, Pacific culture, Deaf culture, and accessibility and inclusion of disabled people. Comfortable working in a complex and ambiguous environment, demonstrating your adaptability on a daily basis.You'll be joining a team passionate about supporting survivors of trauma from abuse in care.  This is your opportunity to make a positive difference and increase access to support and healing for the those who have experienced abuse in care.
