Supervising/News Editor (SouthEast Asia), CNA Digital Supervising/News Editor (SouthEast Asia), CNA Digital Journalism & Writing (Advertising, Arts & Media)CNA Digital is looking for experienced editors to be part of its exciting expansion in reporting about issues and developments in Southeast Asia that will have an impact on Asia.The successful candidate will work with or oversee a team of regional correspondents and video journalists for Digital platforms.Responsibilities :Assist Deputy Chief Editor (International) in identifying and shaping top foreign stories of the day and ensuring CNA Digital stands out in its coverage of major news eventsEnsure a steady supply of original, value-added, and impactful stories from foreign correspondents that also meet the highest editorial standardsMonitor news developments in Southeast Asia and the region, and provide prompt, concise and accurate summaries to guide editorial decisionsExercise sound judgment in identifying possible content from news developments that will be of interest and impact to regional readersAbility to put together breaking news stories or pen op-eds when called uponProvide suggestions in forward planning of major events, and guide foreign correspondents for assignments in the regionBe point persons for correspondents, ensuring they are operationally ready to cover breaking newsHold regular discussions with correspondents, flagging any bureau issues and training needs to senior editorsContribute to CNA's efforts in adopting new technology, social media toolsCandidates hired as supervising editors will:- work with other departments to produce cross-platform content for CAN- identify/spearhead editorial projects that can be entered for regional/international media awards- develop and enhance professional competence by providing feedback, guidance to HQ editorial staffand foreign correspondentsQualificationRequirements :At least 5 years of editorial experience in covering Southeast Asia for a regional news platformCandidates with prior supervisory or reporting experience of covering SEA region a plusA news junkie with a keen interest of the news/current affairs agenda in Southeast AsiaOutstanding editing skills, with the ability to take raw copy and turn it into clear, concise storiesA sound understanding of geopolitical sensitivities, and awareness of potential red linesWorking fluency in other Southeast Asian languages a plusAn independent operator with solid inter-personal skills who can also be a strong team playerPrior experience in working with visuals/AI/social media tools a plusA willingness to put in extra hours when needed, including some weekends and public holidaysBroadcast Media, Entertainment and Publishing Mediacorp is Singapore's leading media company with the most complete range of platforms, spanning television, radio, newspapers, magazines, movies, digital and out-of-home media.It pioneered the development of Singapore's broadcasting industry, with the broadcast of Radio in 1936 and Television in 1963.Today, Mediacorp has over 50 products and brands in four languages (English, Mandarin, Malay and Tamil), reaching out to all adults in Singapore every week.Initiatives in the new digital space include Internet TV-on-demand, High Definition TV broadcast and Over-the-Top (OTT) interactive services.Beyond Singapore, Mediacorp is an active regional player through co-productions in TV dramas and movies, magazines publishing, as well as Channel NewsAsia International, one of the first Asian-owned English news channels.Our financial and strategic relationship in the region includes International Media Corporation in Vietnam, which was set up to develop and produce television entertainment and economic news content.
