Strategic Advisor – Children and Families Tauranga Central, Bay of Plenty Community Development (Community Services & Development) Full time Total Annual Remuneration $100,400 - $111,500 Te Turanga | About the role The primary purpose of this role is to help Council connect with its communities, and to provide strategic advice, support and advocacy for Children and Families in Tauranga, ensuring we foster strong participation and input which aims to create a vibrant inclusive city where everyone is valued and celebrated. This role is community focused and will work on the development of initiatives in relation to the priorities, wants, needs and aspirations of Children and Families, leveraging research and data to ensure an evidence based approach this is is taken to support outcomes for the community. You will use your exceptional interpersonal skills to cultivate and manage both internal and external stakeholder relationships to ensure Tauranga is an inclusive, welcoming and equitable city where all people feel valued in city life. Nga Pukenga | What you'll need to succeed To succeed in this role, you'll bring; Qualification (Degree) in community development, social policy or related discipline and/or at least five years practical experience in a similar role and in community development processes. Knowledge of the Treaty of Waitangi, Tikanga Maori and its implications for community development. Extensive experience with internal and external relationship management, in particular the ability to network and build relationships with social services, government agencies and community groups. Demonstrated success in project management of community responsiveness projects. Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written, including the ability to facilitate internal and external workshops and meetings.
