ABOUT SPACE SYSTEMS AT ROCKET LAB:

Rocket Lab's Space Systems team is responsible for every satellite and satellite component made by Rocket Lab: from complete satellites destined for missions to the Moon and Mars, to the individual components and subsystems that make up a satellite like solar panels, flight software, reaction wheels and star trackers, separation systems, radios, and more. Our Space Systems team is made up of engineers, technicians, and designers who design, create, and put together our own satellites for missions across the commercial, government, and  defense  sectors, or who build and assemble satellite hardware and software that supports other satellite missions .
WHAT YOU'LL GET TO DO: The Structural & Mechanical Systems team supports the hardware design and development of spacecraft structures, Photon platforms and related Payload and Mission objectives.
The Structural & Mechanical Systems team works closely with other Engineering teams and Production to bring new concepts to life. This includes the development of spacecraft systems, related data structures, and documentation to support the associated manufacturing and performance improvements.
As a Senior Design Engineer at Rocket Lab, you will be strongly influencing the design of numerous spacecraft projects. You will have unparalleled opportunities for end-to-end hardware development and seeing your designs reach space.
Success in this position will be measured by the value of the knowledge and experience in design and manufacturing that you bring into this role, your ability to lead design projects without supervision, successful collaboration with other teams across Rocket Lab, and the skillful prioritization of competing engineering development projects across the group.
YOU'LL BRING THESE QUALIFICATIONS: 5+ years working experience in EngineeringSignificant experience modelling with 3D CAD software, ideally NX CAD, and associated PLM solution (Teamcenter)Creative, analytical, good at problem solvingAbility to work on own initiative with ability to plan own daily workflow to meet higher level tasksTHESE QUALIFICATIONS WOULD BE NICE TO HAVE: Experience in one of the following areas:
