Our Enterprise Architecture team provides support within Council to assist us in delivering our services to improve the customer and employee experience. We're looking for a Solutions Architect to take responsibility for investigating and designing the next generation of solutions.
As pioneers, our Smart Council team continues to lead the evolution of our digital capabilitiesto help us deliver an inclusive, sustainable, and creative Poneke. We are fully cloud-based, primarily in AWS.
We are now transforming how we design and deliver services to the people of Poneke through our Tutuki programme, which builds a framework for service delivery that's user-friendly, streamlined and makes sense. Tutuki services are measurable and consistent across all Smart Council channels, making it easier for kaimahi to deliver a first-class experience to our communities.
Vital to this important mahi is our Architecture and Digital Solutions team who provide innovative approaches to key city priorities and challenges. We use digital technology and design digital solutions to help implement these important pieces of work throughout Council.
The team has a big impact and can be nimble enough to take advantage of new technologies quickly. In the past few years, the Council has seen massive changes in the IT space led by the Enterprise Architecture Team.This includes migrating to a cloud-based architecture in AWS, implementing Office 365 and a number of other projects to modernise Council Systems.

We are now on our next phase to leverage this solid base and build a new generation of IT solutions. As part of the Enterprise Architecture and Digital Solutions team this role would have the opportunity to materially contribute to the way forward.
In this role you'll provide solution designs and roadmaps, aligning designs to the principles of 'Secure by Design', 'Architect for Change', 'User Centric Design' and providing specialist support. Wellington City Council provides a broad range of services, and this role will be a varied one, with a wide variety of projects and initiatives.

A bit about you We're looking for someone who is creative with excellent communication and people skills, comfortable presenting to various stakeholder groups. This role requires a number of interactions throughout Council, so you'll need to be a confident communicator and be able to lead/influence decision-making and collaborate at all levels. You will need to be prepared to get your hands dirty with the technical teams and work out the best way forward together.You should have a solid understanding of Business Architecture, Process Analysis, and Process Improvement and Automation.
You should have solid experience in Solutions and Software Systems design with a customer focus and some experience with release automation, code pipelines, security and release management ideally in AWS and using React and/or Next.JS. Experience with Microsoft MVC, Razor and DevOps would be beneficial.
