What You Will Do In this role as a Software Engineer within Survey & Mapping, you will assist with the development of Trimble Virtual World.
As part of our mostly Christchurch-based development team, you will be involved in the development of an application that spans 3D game engines, geodetics, mapping sensors, site digital twins, BIM, cloud connectivity, education platforms, HCI input devices and much more.
A particular focus will be support for Trimble Virtual World, a platform that allows users to experience an immersive site simulation of Trimble's field products and services for the next generation of Education, Training, Product Demonstrations, Site Safety & Site Planning. Development is cross-platform C# on Windows, Android and WebGL.
You will work in collaboration with the Product Manager, Applications Specialists, Engineering Manager, and other Software Engineers, both locally and in Trimble facilities worldwide.
Responsibilities Development in Unity 3D / C# in a desktop environment
Understanding, analysing, designing, implementing, and testing new features
Analysing, fixing, and testing bugs
Perform routine assignments at a professional level appropriate to your job progression
Possess conceptual knowledge of theories, practices, and procedures within a job family
Follow standard practices and procedures in analysing problems from which answers can be readily obtained
Receive detailed instruction, guidance, and direction from other senior-level roles
Apply general knowledge of business developed through education or experience
Use existing procedures to solve standard problems; analyses information and standard practices to make judgments; works on problems of limited scope; and applies company policies and procedures to resolve routine issues
Any other duties directed by Management as and when required
What Skills and Experience You Should Bring Bachelor in Software Engineering, Product Design (Gaming), or a related degree
2+ years of software engineering skills
Experience in application development within Unity 3D
Experience with Visual Studio, Source control, Agile development process
Motivated team player with prioritisation skills
Collaborative verbal and written communication and working style
Curiosity and willingness to learn
