Transactional Banking is the largest platform at ASB with a diverse technology landscape including our mainframe and SAP core banking systems but also the Microsoft .NET stack on which our Lending Applications are primarily focused.
About the role: As a developer in the Lending focus area, you'll be part of our team that aims to provide a seamless experience for our frontline teams by enabling them to support our customers with key milestones in their financial journey such as requesting a new mortgage or personal loan, refixing an existing loan, or settling an existing loan after a customer's home had been sold. Being part of the Engineering Practice at ASB we encourage our teams to work autonomously in an agile way while actively growing their skills and expertise to continuously improve outcomes for our customers.
You'll have the opportunity to get hands-on with some interesting and complex pieces of work that integrate on an enterprise scale, all while being part of a smaller squad that makes their own decisions about how to work through prioritisation - so your voice will be heard, and your opinions valued.

We are looking for an individual that will take leadership of the work that had been assigned to him/her. You will gather and refine business requirements with stakeholders across the bank. You are pragmatic and design effective solutions. You can document and present your technical designs to a wide range of audience. You have the drive to manage and deliver programmes of work to the production environment. You will be given opportunities to extend your sphere of influence beyond your squad to other squads and platforms, both to share your knowledge and experience and to extend it by drawing on the knowledge and experience of others. You will work collaboratively with our squads and stakeholders to be the voice of engineering and deliver products that delight our customers.
We are looking for someone who has:
10+ years of software engineering experience5+ years of solution architecture experienceExpertise in C#, .NET and/or .NET CoreA proven ability to assist stakeholders to create and refine user stories for an agile squadStrong technical documentation skillsExperience in project management and production deliveryIn addition, the following would be an advantage:
Experience of Windows web server infrastructureKnowledge of security principles, e.g., secrets, passwords, certificatesUnderstanding of Kafka or other event sourcing technologiesFinance/banking experienceWorking at ASB: ASB's sense of who we are and what we stand for is grounded in our values.
