Management (Manufacturing, Transport & Logistics) Our client is a leading player in the food manufacturing industry and is currently seeking a dynamic and experienced Site Manager for their Wellington-based processing facility. Reporting directly to the Operations Director, this pivotal role will oversee all aspects of production and maintenance engineering operations. We are seeking a hands-on leader who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is passionate about driving operational excellence. This role requires someone who is not afraid to roll up their sleeves and lead from the front, with a focus on effective communication and collaboration. Key Responsibilities: Your primary focus will be overseeing the manufacturing of liquid products for food service and bulk supply, ensuring quality at every stage. You'll be responsible for the leadership and management of a diverse team of 50 (5 direct reports), including engineers and production staff, while strategically planning and allocating resources to optimise production efficiency. Your role will involve implementing operational strategies to streamline processes and enhance productivity, as well as ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and food safety measures. Collaborating closely with cross-functional teams, senior management, suppliers, and regulatory agencies will be essential as you navigate through problem-solving and decision-making processes. As a trusted leader, Health & Safety will be high on your list of priorities as you continue to spearhead project management initiatives, including CAPEX projects and continuous improvement endeavours. Qualifications and Skills: Tertiary education in food science, engineering, production, or related field. At least 10 yrs experience in a food operations / production environment. An understanding of foodservice / QSR would be highly advantageous. Certifications in food safety (e.g., HACCP, SQF, or BRC) are highly desirable. In-depth knowledge of food manufacturing processes, quality control, and compliance with regulatory standards. Proactive focus on the Health & Safety of the plant. Proven leadership abilities with a focus on fostering collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement. Strong communication skills fostering an ongoing learning environment whilst developing team members. Demonstrated ability to problem-solve and to make effective decisions under pressure. Proficiency in manufacturing software and ERP systems, along with technical expertise in food processing equipment. Maintaining a positive work environment and teamwork among employees will be integral to your success, alongside your regular presence on the shop floor to engage with staff and ensure operational effectiveness.
