Two positions, a Northern and Southern Shelter Officer is required for our busy animal shelters.Are you passionate about animal welfare and community safety? Do you have experience in animal care and a commitment to responsible dog ownership? We are currently seeking two dedicated and enthusiastic Shelter Officers within Animal Management to join our team (based in Kaikohe and Kaitaia and working across the region). As a Shelter Officer, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the well-being of animals and promoting responsible dog ownership.Our employees are critical to our mission, regardless of the role they carry out. Our Values guide how we do our job and keep us passionate about creating great places and supporting our people.Te wero - The ChallengeAs a Shelter Officer, you will be responsible for maintaining a safe and caring environment for animals within our shelter. Your primary focus will be the care of dogs in the shelter. You may however be required to assist in Officer fieldwork and other tasks from time to time. You will enforce legislation, educate the community, and contribute to the overall welfare of animals in our care.The ideal candidate will posess:Passion for Animals: Genuine care and compassion for animals.Experience: Previous experience in animal care, shelter work, or a related field is preferred.Physical Fitness: Ability to handle and lift animals of varying sizes.Communication: Excellent communication skills for engaging with the public and colleagues.Problem-Solving: Ability to handle challenging situations and make sound decisions.Driver's License: A valid driver's license is required.Far North District Council is a progressive and growing Council filled with like-minded people who love what they do and are committed to providing superior services to residents in their community.
