We do this by: Protecting land, species, ecosystems, and cultural heritage for conservation purposes Managing threats and adverse impacts Being a voice for conservation Connecting people to nature Due to the evolving and complex nature of procurement, we have recently transitioned to a centralised, category led operating model to provide more strategic and best practise service to the business. This new model will enable DOC to deliver on its key strategic focus areas such as strengthening our Treaty partnerships and providing strong support for our frontline staff. The role of Senior Supplier Advisor can be based at either of our Wellington, Auckland or Christchurch locations. This is an exciting time to consider joining an organisation such as DOC. You'll work collaboratively with the wider procurement function to educate and embed this new way of working to the business. This will result in strong strategic & commercial partnerships with our suppliers, cost saving opportunities and continuous improvement initiatives. As a Senior Supplier Advisor, you will be a key contributor in the development and implementation of the tools and processes of DOC's procurement procedures as we transition to the new operating model. You'll ensure a consistent approach is followed and provide expert advice with a focus on the Construction Category related to capital investment and maintenance programmes and/or projects. You'll also get involved in things such as; Market research and analysis Providing expert advice, support, and direction on approach to market options Liaising with the relevant business groups on requirements, to understand what represents value for money and how other category objectives can be achieved Leading supplier performance management activities including assessment and reporting requirements Coaching and mentoring junior team members If you have the following attributes, we are keen to hear from you: Relevant experience (5+ years) in a similar procurement/ category management role - exposure within a Government agency environment would be viewed favourably Strong analytical skills to review complex commercial situations and provide pragmatic solutions to stakeholders Experience in influencing and negotiating with stakeholders, suppliers, and senior managers Experienced in managing contractual processes - evidenced by robust contract documentation and sound understanding of contract law Ability to work collaboratively with team members and internal/ external stakeholders MCIPS, tertiary qualification (Business, Law, Accounting, Commerce), or commensurate experience in procurement and/or the commercial sector preferred An understanding of why the Maori Crown relationship is important to DOC Te Papa Atawhai is committed to fostering a diverse workforce that represents the communities we serve, creating an inclusive workplace culture, supporting the relationship between Maori and the Crown, and lifting our cultural capability.
