To finish your application we will email you further details. Senior Scientist - Estuaries and Lakes Are you keen to work in a multi-disciplinary team and help manage Southland's natural environment? We are looking for the right person to join our science team. This exciting role will build on existing data sources to collect, design and analyse information on our region's diverse estuaries and lakes. You will get to work with a wide range of people including researchers, land owners, mana whenua iwi partners and other agencies providing advice on science and resource management. This role will also be instrumental in supporting our policy and regulatory teams, seeking to understand the effects and impacts human activities on Southland's natural resources and assessing policy effectiveness. You will also be involved in developing science management strategies that will assist the region in achieving its desired outcomes. The right person will have a relevant tertiary qualification, a good understanding of scientific protocols and standards, strong relationship-building and communication skills along with a solid understanding of New Zealand's resource management legislation. You will need to demonstrate project management experience and a proven ability in the use of computers, GIS and modelling packages and analytical methods.
