Napier City Council is seeking a dedicated and skilled Senior Resource Consent Planner to contribute to our vibrant community. As a pivotal member of our City Strategy – Planning Team, you'll play a key role in managing the legal intricacies of resource management activities. From processing complex land use and subdivision consent applications to mentoring our resource consent planners, you'll champion sustainable development within our city. Your duties will include: Collaborating with the Team Leader to peer review resource consents. Assisting with the resource management aspect of Building Consents and LIM's. Handling LGOIMA requests proficiently. Representing the Council at hearings and providing comprehensive reports to the Hearings Commissioner/s. Managing Section 223 and 224 Certifications and related legal documents. Orchestrating the online certification (Landonline) of Section 223/224 applications. Ensuring adherence to the District Plan to maintain community expectations and compliance. Leading or participating in cross-disciplinary projects on strategic issues as needed. The ideal candidate will possess: A tertiary degree or master's qualification in Planning, Resource Management, or a related field. Membership or eligibility for full membership with the New Zealand Planning Institute. Practical experience in resource management within local government or private practice. Advanced knowledge of legislation and professional practices pertinent to resource management and local governance. Extensive experience in evaluating complex resource consent applications.
