We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Planner to join our Urban Regeneration team! If you are an experienced regeneration planner, either already working at a senior level or ready to take this career step, consider joining us to deliver a variety of place-based planning projects. 
About us: Our team of talented, passionate professionals works across a broad spectrum of urban regeneration initiatives, from preparing revitalisation strategies to delivering creative placemaking projects. The core of our work is enabling communities' aspirations for quality places and neighbourhoods. We use a variety of mechanisms and approaches to achieve this - whether facilitating neighbourhood plans, working with key landowners or supporting community-led initiatives that reflect local identity and build capacity. 
About the role: Lead projects and represent the Council in regeneration projects across a variety of scales (with a current focus on key Central City and suburban neighbourhoods and sites) and through developing and applying a variety of mechanisms to support place improvement (e.g. financial, capital delivery, educational). Lead and participate in multi-disciplinary project teams and develop effective and influential relationships with external stakeholders.Provide expert technical and process advice to elected members, other agencies, staff and community groups on regeneration projects and regeneration aspects of strategies and plans. Identify emerging issues and support the development of priority work programmes. About you: We are looking for an innovative, positive and collaborative team player who can balance a strategic focus with the ability to turn ideas into action.Your relevant tertiary qualification, matched with experience in urban regeneration or related planning work, will set you up for success in this role. You will be a 'people person' with strong verbal and written communication skills to engage well with a range of audiences and compellingly present your ideas. Your analytical approach, together with experience in harnessing information technology (including spatial data using GIS tools), will support your excellent problem-solving abilities and talents in managing complex situations.

Additional information: Hours of work - 37.5 - 40 hours per week
Location - This position is primarily based at Te Hononga, Christchurch City Council Civic Offices - 53 Hereford Street
Salary - The salary band for this position goes from $111,553 to $123,948 per annum based on a 40 hour working week. Starting salaries will be based on knowledge, skills and experience the successful candidate brings to the role, and relativities both, within the immediate team and in the broader organisation for the same or similar roles.
