About the role: Your work will be varied, challenging, and expose you to a wide and unique range of planning issues across the City and Banks Peninsula, including opportunities to grow expertise in specific areas. You'll provide expert planning advice to our customers, liaise with experts, and provide recommendations on notified and non-notified applications (including land use, subdivision, and notices of requirement). You will be managing complex applications, providing pre-app advice, attending hearings, and taking appeals to the Environment Court. As a Senior Planner you'll also be responsible for making robust decisions on resource consent applications and will act as a mentor to less experienced planners, with coaching being a core component of the role. As we're a large Territorial Authority, you'll be part of a diverse team of peers who enjoy the work environment and opportunities at CCC.
About you: We're looking for someone with:
A degree in urban/regional planning, resource management or similar which is recognised by the New Zealand Planning Institute (in terms of eligibility for full membership of the Institute).A comprehensive working knowledge and understanding of the Resource Management Act, District Plans and the wider planning framework, and demonstrated experience in the resource consent process.Desire to develop your leadership skills.What you'll get in return: You'll be project-managing your work with the ability to see a consent through from start to finish, including pre-app advice, hearings and court experience.You'll have the trust, authority and support to make decisions on applications under delegated authority.You'll gain exposure to a large variety of consent and development types, including complex land-use and subdivisions, from rural activities on Banks Peninsula to landmark buildings within Central Christchurch.You will work with, and take a leadership role within, a large consenting Unit full of motivated professional colleagues.We offer a supportive and fun work environment with great colleagues, a competitive salary and a well-structured framework for career progression and professional development.
