Senior/Permissions Advisor (Multiple Opportunities) at Department of Conservation, Dunedin If the land is well and the sea is well, the people will thrive. The Regulatory Authorisations directorate at the Department of Conservation (DOC) is looking to expand their team in various locations including Hamilton, Hokitika, Christchurch, and Dunedin with potential for other locations for the right candidate. Opportunities now available:
National Permissions Advisor (Permanent): As a National Permissions Advisor, you'll play a key role in implementing initiatives of our permissions improvement programme. You'll also guide national regulatory processes and foster cultural competency within the team. We are looking for someone who is skilled in risk identification and management, is able to prioritise and manage their time effectively, and has excellent communications skills.
Senior Treaty Permissions Advisor (Permanent): In this role, you'll be responsible for handling complex applications while ensuring that we honour Treaty principles. You'll coach and support colleagues to navigate Treaty settlement redress, contributing to a culture of inclusivity and excellence. You will cultivate relationships across diverse stakeholders, offering professional counsel and support when required.
Senior/ Permissions Advisor: As Permissions Advisor (Permanent), you will manage the application process from start to finish. Collaborate within a dynamic team environment, delivering high-quality outcomes and fostering relationships with stakeholders.
As a Senior Permission Advisor (1-year fixed term/ secondment) you will provide technical support to your peers, relating to the management of submitted applications including having pre-application discussions, critical assessment, and analysis of applications through to writing quality reports for a final decision. You will also be directly involved in contributing to improving aspects of how we work, collaborating with others in an inclusive team process environment to ensure professional and high-quality outputs.

The salary range for these positions are:
National Permissions Advisor: $92,450- $116,985Senior Treaty Permissions Advisor: $79,656-$100,639Senior Permissions Advisor: $79,656- $100,639Permissions Advisor: $68,535- $86,423 with the starting salary of the successful applicants being based on their relevant skills and experience.Please specify in your covering letter your preferred location and position you wish to be considered for.
Eligibility to work in New Zealand is mandatory – this includes holding a valid work visa that covers the whole period of employment.
