Te whiwhinga mahi | The Opportunity We are seeking a passionate, committed Consultant Medical Oncologist (part time 0.75 FTE + on-call, fixed term for 18 months) to join our dynamic, progressive and multidisciplinary department at Waikato Hospital, the largest tertiary hospital in New Zealand. The broad focus on patient care, research and education offers an excellent career opportunity.
(Please note position descriptions can only be viewed on the Te Whatu Ora - Waikato website.) The candidate must have qualifications that would satisfy the requirements for vocational registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand and must have a driver license.
One of six regional cancer centres in New Zealand, our department comprises an inpatient ward including an autologous bone marrow transplant suite, day care and chemotherapy suite, outpatient department and radiation treatment facility. At Waikato Hospital there are currently eight medical oncologists, nine haematologists, ten radiation oncologists and five palliative care physicians. Through our research unit we are involved with the full spectrum of clinical trials, including phase I trials of novel agents. As a Regional Cancer Centre we provide oncology services to a regional multicultural population of 554,000, with chemotherapy administration and outpatient clinics in Hamilton and three secondary hospitals.
