This is mahi that will improve the health and wellbeing of everyone in Aotearoa, and we've got an opportunity for you to be part of it… Te whiwhinga mahi | The Opportunity We have an important role in supporting the Crown in its relationships with Maori under Te Tiriti o Waitangi | The Treaty of Waitangi. The government is committed to improving services and outcomes for Maori and strengthening the Crown's relationships with Maori. We are responsible for designing community-based systems of care, agreeing health and wellbeing plans, executing those plans, and monitoring outcomes which then feed into the design process. We work in partnership with our Te Whatu Ora and Te Aka Whai Ora colleagues to shape system-wide public health services across the motu. The Senior Local Area Manager is the local and generalist holder of provider relationships, tasked with ensuring outcomes that radically improve Maori Health and eliminate inequities are achieved across the network of services within their locality. The Senior Local Area Manager is the budget holder for the localities they serve, within the parameters and delegations set across national and regional teams. They are responsible for establishing localities alongside Locality Development Advisors and developing authentic long-term relationships with IMPBs, health providers, wider social sector funders and providers, local government, and communities across their localities. Their role is a path smoother for localities, helping to solve identified problems and issues through working with their Te Whatu Ora colleagues, Te Aka Whai Ora, and the wider social sector across their localities. They are supported by the Regional Integration Team and Regional Service Improvement Team from a subject matter expertise, contract management and performance monitoring, quality improvement and risk management perspective. They are responsible for leading the implementation of new services, integration programmes across HSS and primary and community care, as well as the networking of providers as a locality. This role is based in Wellington (Capital & Coast Hutt Valley). You're an experienced Manager with extensive senior-level commissioning and community development experience gained over a decade or more. Demonstrated experience in system and service design and transformation change. Demonstrated experience in health service funding and procurement and provider oversight. Demonstrated experience in place-based planning and collective impact approaches. Demonstrated experience at a leadership level for developing, maintaining, and influencing relationships and partnerships across sectors and organisations including with Maori and Pacific Peoples and groups. The ability to compellingly communicate complex information and ideas in both oral and written communication to a range of audiences including senior management, Board and Ministers. Proven ability to persuade and influence. The ability to build and maintain strong internal and external relationships at a senior level. Experience navigating and operating in a regulated environment, experience working constructively across functions and track record of building and maintaining the trust of all stakeholders.
