Senior Legal Counsel - Wellington - Fixed Term at Fire and Emergency New Zealand, Wellington - Wairarapa The Senior Legal Counsel provides high quality specialist legal advice and support across Fire and Emergency. Our team's work generally covers the areas of public and commercial law, as well as operational matters; and it includes:
Corporate activities including procurement, commercial contracts, property, information and communications technology (ICT)Legal issues regarding the built environmentOperational emergency managementAdvice on internal and external publicationsHealth and safetyInvestigations and regulatory complianceLitigation management for civil, criminal and coronial matters This is a fixed term or secondment opportunity reporting directly to the Chief Legal Advisor. The role is based in our National Headquarters in Wellington and there are opportunities for flexible working arrangements. Ko tau na i tenei turanga - What you'll bring to the role: In this fixed term or secondment position, we are looking for someone who can jump into the role quickly. This is a diverse role, so you will be comfortable with a varying workload.
Bring your previous public sector experience to a supportive and collaborative team. You will have excellent written and oral communication skills and experience applying critical thinking and sound judgment.
To be successful in this role, we'd expect you will: In house experience, preferably in a government environmentA law degree along with a current practicing certificateUnderstanding of the machinery of government and wider public sectorThe salary range for this role is $148,798 - $165,332 (pro rata), dependent on skills and experience relevant to the role.
