Our client, New Zealand Rugby, is seeking a Senior Legal Counsel to join their team. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of one of New Zealand's largest sports organisations, committed to ensuring that the national game runs smoothly and effectively at all levels. The successful candidate will provide internal legal advice and related services to the wider NZR Group, assisting the organisation in meeting their commercial and operational objectives. This role is a key legal point of contact with NZR's members, including the 26 Provincial Unions and the NZMRB, who are at the heart of rugby in New Zealand.* Join one of New Zealand's largest sports organisations* Provide internal legal advice and related services to the wider NZR Group* Be a key legal point of contact with NZR's members What you'll do: As a Senior Legal Counsel for New Zealand Rugby, you will play a crucial role in providing internal legal advice and related services to the wider NZR Group. You will be responsible for establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with Provincial Unions, the New Zealand Maori Rugby Board, and other key stakeholders. Your ability to actively manage workloads and expectations will be essential in this role. You will also provide training and assistance to Provincial Unions, supporting them to meet their legal and compliance obligations. In addition, you will assist the General Counsel and the rest of the Legal Team as required with other matters to support team and organisational requirements. Provide proactive and pragmatic legal support and advice to the New Zealand Rugby Group on a range of general and commercial legal matters. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with New Zealand Rugby's members: the Provincial Unions and the New Zealand Maori Rugby Board. Provide training, assistance, and support to enable them to meet their legal and compliance obligations. Assist the General Counsel and the rest of the Legal Team as required with other matters to support team and organisational requirements. What you bring: The ideal candidate for the Senior Legal Counsel position at New Zealand Rugby will bring a wealth of experience in commercial law, and ideally a solid grounding in general practice. You will have a tertiary degree in Law and completion of legal professional studies. Your ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with various stakeholders will be crucial in this role.
