BTW's multidisciplinary teams operate from offices in Kirikiriroa - Hamilton, Whaingaroa – Raglan, Taupo, and Ngamotu- New Plymouth.We are looking for a Senior Ecologist to work with our Kirikiriroa- Hamilton team to provide ecological advice to private clients and local authorities and to support the various departments within BTW with ecological advice and assistance on multi-disciplinary projects.There is the opportunity to work from Whaingaroa – Raglan, Taupo, or Rotorua while you support the Hamilton office. Your key responsibilities will involve undertaking ecological assessments, water sampling, environmental investigations and technical reporting.With your minimum 4 years of experience in an Ecology role (preferably with consultancy) you will enter a work environment that allows you to develop strong people skills, and effectively and constructively work with colleagues, clients, Councils, Iwi and other stakeholders to achieve project deliverables.With a comprehensive induction process, training and development planning, support from experienced Environmental Scientists, Engineers, Planners, and Surveyors, you will soon feel that your contribution is appreciated and makes a tangible difference to our business and clients. This is your chance to begin an exciting journey with BTW.As a Senior Ecologist at BTW you will work under the guidance of Waikato Environment and the Ecology Team Leaders to undertake or provide:Environmental monitoring and sampling (surface water, groundwater, and soil), interpretation of results and preparing technical reports in accordance with relevant guidelines, standards and legislation.Ecological assessments, management and restoration of natural areas.Biology and ecological management services.Consent compliance management.Scientific advice and services on multi-disciplinary (team) projects.Assistance with the maintenance and development of sampling and other environmental procedures.Technical support for RMA consent applications as required (e.g. groundwater, surface water, ecological, and other environmental inputs).As a Senior Ecologist at BTW you will have:Ideally, a minimum of 4 years' experience in an Ecology role.
