We are seeking to engage an experience Senior Design Manager for a 9-month maternity leave cover (commencing mid-May). You will be joining a high performing, dynamic Development Team and overseeing the design coordination functions from bulk and location, planning to concept design through to consent, cost and project management. You will deliver commercially efficient, effective, and consistent design solutions, while being key in shaping Metlifecare's sustainability goals, working on new innovative projects, utilising modular construction techniques.
This is a key role to ensure that each build meets the high standards of Metlifecare and creates a thriving community for our residents.
Key responsibilities will include: Manage multiple projects from Preliminary design through to Construction documentation. Leading and managing Client design directives by effectively communicating expectations to Consultants so that they can develop documentation that is meeting cost expectations, delivered to programme and delivered to a high quality set of documentation suitable not only for Building Consent but for tender and construction. and for completeness and consistency with the Metlifecare standards.Employ technical expertise in the design process of new development and regeneration projects.Ensure designs meet health and safety standards and regulations and sustainability guidelines.Work with internal stakeholders, external consultants, contractors, manufacturers and suppliers, Councils, and regulatory authorities to ensure all projects meet all performance and financial outcomes.Work with the line manager and others to source new building technology solutions, building solutions, and direct procurement outcomes for the Metlifecare Development Team.Work in conjunction with other Metlifecare teams to provide design solutions for projects from a Client directive.About you
With a relevant qualification in Design, Construction Management or Architecture, you will have strong Design Management experience and a thorough understanding of design and cost management. You are comfortable navigating resourcing challenges, and you are a strong communicator. While you're acutely aware of the importance of good business processes, you are able to think laterally and find ways of evolving and improving them.
Some things that will strengthen your application include:
Strong NZ experience in the construction industryArchitectural experience with project initiation and predesign, concept, design and documentation, procurement, and administration and observation of contract worksProgramme Management through the design phasesThorough understanding of technical documentation and quality assurance controls and buildabilityGreenstar and Homestar experienceRevit, Adobe Indesign and MS Project desirableKnowledge & understanding of relevant codes and standards (eg the NZ Building Code, other standards applicable to aged care work such as NZS 4121 Disability Standards and relevant Codes of Practice), industry standards and design guidelinesTechnical drawing and presentation skillsAbout us At Metlifecare we create homes and communities.
