Mo te tunga | About the role We are offering an exciting opportunity for an experienced Senior Cyber Vulnerability and Penetration Tester to join our growing security team. At the Defence Cyber Security Centre (DCSC), we are committed to defending and ensuring the security of the Defence Information Environment against potential ICS threats. Our work involves proactive threat monitoring, efficient response strategies, and risk assessment. In your role as a senior team member, you will have a pivotal role in identifying vulnerabilities that could jeopardize the integrity of the Defence Information Environment. Your responsibilities will include: * Conducting network penetration testing, web application penetration testing, and configuration reviews in accordance with industry security standards. * Generating detailed reports with findings and offering valuable recommendations. * Participating in peer reviews of vulnerability assessment and penetration testing reports. * Assisting in the investigation, documentation, response, and remediation of cyber incidents. * Conducting research on emerging trends and vulnerabilities in the cyber landscape. * Providing input regarding identified vulnerabilities, weaknesses, and potential upgrades or improvements. * Engaging in cyber challenges as required enhancing your skills and expertise * Mentoring and monitoring analyst staff in CVP. In particular, we are looking for candidates who can meet the following criteria: * At least 3-5 years Senior-level experience gained in the field of cybersecurity within a large and intricate IT environment. * An appropriate tertiary qualification. * A proven record of accomplishment in assessing Cyber Security policies, frameworks, and standards. * A solid grasp of the various products, tools for Vulnerability Assessment/Penetration Testing, and methodologies in the realm of Cyber Security. * Exceptional report-writing skills, an ability to think broadly, focus on solutions, and thrive under pressure within a collaborative, multi-disciplinary team. * A certification in Offensive Security Cyber is desirable, but not essential. Alternatively, you must hold NZ Permanent Residence or hold a current NZ Residency Class Visa and have been a citizen of UK, USA, Canada or Australia for 10 years. * You must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret Special (TSS) security clearance. Ordinarily to obtain this level of clearance candidates must have 15 years of verifiable background history in countries where a meaningful background check can be undertaken and assessed as appropriate by the NZ Security Intelligence Service.
