Te Turanga - The Role Make a difference as a Senior Component Engineer at Tait - be part of a team that delivers a continuous stream of innovative and reliable products, which in turn increase the competitiveness of the Tait brand. The Senior Component Engineer operates in a cross functional team reporting to our Component Engineering Manager and touches every aspect of the product lifecycle creating high value product designs, manufacturing, and solutions for our customers. Our Component Engineer role is based in our Head Office in Christchurch, NZ, and will attract remuneration in the range of $95k to $120k per annum, and be full-time, onsite, 40 hours per week. The duties of the role will include: Contribute to development projects, provide component solutions for our new products and solutions, and component support for existing products. Support the development, manufacturing, supply chain and life cycle of our products while ensuring that they meet our DFM requirements. Ensure that customer needs are understood, synthesised, and captured, then transfer these requirements into the best commercial and technical solutions.Contribute and lead improvements in the component engineering discipline, including but not limited to component engineering process, component commodity strategy, and commodity based technology roadmaps). O pukenga - About You To be successful in this role, you will have a relevant qualification in Electrical or Electronics Engineering, demonstrated practical knowledge of electrical design principles and processes, and ideally at least 6 years' experience in Component Engineering. You'll demonstrate aptitude and interest in learning about new technologies and tools and have a genuine interest in mentoring and sharing knowledge with fellow engineers. You'll also demonstrate your ability to: Understand and apply design practices, test reporting, component de-ratings and manufacturing processes.Understand quality systems and processes (ISO 9000, ISO14001, Six Sigma, etc)Actively lead due diligence for a certain commodity of new technology.Understand audits for supplier processes for design, test & manufacturing.Influence cross-functional teams on technical directions and objectives. Lead rationalisation of components and cost reduction initiatives Lead and contribute to technical documentation and strategies for component commodities. Nga painga - what's in it for you?
