We are seeking an experienced Building Inspector, with preferred RES 1 - COM 3 competency (which includes P&D), to ensure that our buildings are constructed in accordance with the requirements of the New Zealand Building Code and Regulations. If you are an experienced Building Official with a sound understanding of construction projects, building legislation and looking to further your professional scope in a role that offers you variety, flexibility and growth this is the role for you.
As a Senior Commercial Building Inspector, you will be supporting your team members with technical advice and mentoring. You will also contribute to process improvement initiatives to result in effective end to end systems and a better service to customers
About you: The successful applicant will have strong customer service skills with the ability to adjust and communicate effectively with diverse customer groups along with excellent interpersonal skills. Ideally you will also have:
A regulation 18 qualification - you may be working towards this. Find out more about reg 18 here RES 1 - COM 2 competency, ideally COM 3.10 years of experience in the building/construction industry, this could be in design, draughting, plumbing, construction, supervision etc.At least 3 years of experience within a Building Consent Authority or similar in New Zealand.While the above is ideal, if you have a 'can do' attitude to life, have the scope to coach and mentor others and are seeking a challenging but rewarding career, we want to hear from you!

Location - This position is primarily based at 53 Hereford Street, Christchurch City Council Civic Offices
Salary - The salary band for this position goes from $101,882 to $113,202 (negotiable) per annum based on 40 hours per week. Starting salaries will be based on knowledge, skills and experience the successful candidate brings to the role, and relativities both, within the immediate team and in the broader organisation for the same or similar roles.
