This role is part of our Enterprise Investments Team, who are trusted advisors for the Bank, providing analytics and insights to help execute on the Bank's strategy in the most efficient, cost-effective way possible. We co-pilot with leadership teams across the business and are an enabler to the success of the Bank.
This role proactively works with business leaders and Finance Partners to understand, analyse and manage key cost drivers across change initiatives, maintaining awareness of the organisation's exposure to commercial and financial risks. You'll play a pivotal role in managing relationships between the Finance Partners and the Project Investment Community, providing financial support and advice to ensure successful delivery of projects, maximising outcomes of the investment spend while maintaining strict financial governance of this spend.
What are the key day to day tasks the person in this role will complete? Providing financial planning support and advice for projects to ensure best outcomes and use of spend.Build and maintain effective relationships with internal stakeholders in order to influence and ensure those involved in the project are abiding by the accounting standards.You'll own, facilitate and manage the month end forecast and planning processes.Consolidation, reporting, planning and forecasting of BNZ's projects and investments, fixed assets and depreciation, according to the Finance team's timetable.Provide training to finance and project management staff on aspects of accounting for projects, as required.Support the Divisional CFO and Finance Partners and Business Leaders as required with initiatives, analysis and insights required to provide value to the business and finance.What is the most exciting thing about this opportunity? Truly no two days are the same and you'll have variety through the different projects you work on. This is not a 'traditional' Analyst or Accountant role. Although you will have the technical experience, you will be someone that enjoys a challenge, doesn't just accept how things are done and looks for ways to improve and simplify. We need someone proactive who shows initiative, as you'll have the opportunity to be involved in projects that will help the bank move towards achieving its strategic ambition, and deal with a wide range of stakeholders from different business units across the bank. You'll connect with senior stakeholders, as well as get to know the insights on all the exciting new things the bank is investing in and building.
What attributes will this person display in order to be successful in this role? You'll be a proactive finance professional, who can demonstrate strong stakeholder management and communications skills - This is crucial to the role as you'll need to understand but also convey complex issues/data for others to comprehend. You'll also be confident in approaching and following up stakeholders to ensure deadlines are met. The ideal candidate will possess:
Minimum 8 years' relevant finance or accounting experience, giving you a sound understanding of financial management policies and methodologies.Exposure to a project environment, project accounting or analyst experience is essential to this role. Stakeholder management skills, holding you in good stead to build key relationships and influence without authority.Strong communication skills ensuring effective collaboration and stakeholders management in the business and ideally will be comfortable presenting information to stakeholders.Problem solver - You'll be a lateral thinker, able to handle conflicting commitments and deliver accordingly and resolve issues.Industry experience within a banking or financial institution would be an advantage.What is the team culture and environment like?
