We’re on the search for passionate Senior Chefs with exceptional culinary skills who push boundaries to work in the Wellington CBD or closer to home, but we’ll talk through those options.

The primary purpose of the Senior Chef is to support the Head Chef and/or Sous Chef and be part of the team. You are a leader, trainer and mentor to Junior Chefs and Kitchen Hands. A Senior Chef is a developmental role with the aim to expand on already strong cookery skills, as well as management skills, so as to one day run the kitchen. By supporting the Head Chef and/or Sous Chef your purpose is to absorb skills needed to effectively lead a team of Chefs, understand menu costings and development and run a kitchen efficiently and innovatively.
As a Senior Chef your mission is to be a leader for Junior Chefs and reliable support for the Head Chef.

Motivate and lead the team during your shifts
Work in line with the venue and WHGs expectations
Encourage and lead your team to deliver great food consistently to our customers and ensure we are always looking for opportunities to WOW our customers
Create and control and upbeat culture within the team
Set the standard for the team
Show excellent communication and listening skills for your team and customers
Ensure all operational processes and procedures are adhered to
Ensure FOH and BOH cohesion at all times
Identify potential service issues and act accordingly to avoid them
Handle complaints with empathy and ensure a more than satisfactory outcome for our customers
Always portray a positive attitude, be happy, smiling and having fun.
