Career Opportunities: Senior Business Analyst (4742002) The purpose of Te Tari Pureke , Firearms Safety Authority is to enable New Zealand to be a world leader in arms safety. We regulate and administer the Arms Act and Arms Regulations.Our business was established to lead, operate, and modernise the firearms system. We will achieve this by building stronger relationships with those in the firearms community, creating a more efficient and effective risk-based licensing system, and improving public confidence in the firearms licensing system.We will earn trust and confidence by working together in partnership with other policing groups, iwi, the firearms community, wider New Zealand public and other agencies and organisations to achieve collective impact.As senior business analyst (processes, projects and people) for the Partnerships Directorate, you will take responsibility to scope and stand-up multiple pieces of strategic work that help develop our business. You'll be a liaison between employees and our firearms community, subject matter experts, vendors, consultants, and other organisations in the analysis, design, configuration, testing, maintenance, and handover of processes and projects that help us be more efficient, most cost effective, and more responsive to our community.You will define and document business requirements, stakeholder requirements, business readiness assessments, current state analyses, gap analyses, and implementation plans. You'll create and contribute to high quality technical documents, communication materials and training packs. You'll drive operational efficiencies from start to finish with the support of a small but high-performing change team and a pool of subject matter experts who want to work with you to help you succeed.You will be experienced in facilitating workshops to identify business needs, processes, and potential solutions. Employee involvement and engagement is critical, so an understanding of engagement techniques and positive psychology is a bonus.You will have strong research and analysis skills, able to ferret out information as needed, all the while building your network.Most importantly, you'll need to be able to articulate and present your findings and recommendations in a way that makes commercial sense. So, impeccable communication skills are essential, as is the ability to create outputs and artifacts that demonstrate compelling stories to your audience.Take on the research, analysis, feasibility and implementation for new processes, projects and ways of working, and develop tools to help the business operate more efficiently.Produce compelling artifacts that propel your projects forward: business plans, budgets, current state analyses, business process maps, process workflows, communication materials and business proposals.Track and document changes for functional and business specifications; write detailed universally understood procedures for permanent records and for use in training.Understand how policy changes could and should be applied, and what the wider implications are.Build Q&As and base packs for technical changes.Oversee the implementation for your work: ensuring the right materials and stakeholders are engaged at the right time.Be the subject matter expert for your projects and following them through to completion, working with your team to ensure evidence of action and reinforcement is captured, presented, and acted on.Demonstrate commitment to the principles of the Treaty of Waitangi, Maori and other communities and cultures.What you'll bring:Exceptional skills using the M365 suite of products.Clear, concise and engaging writing skills. Plain Language training is a bonus.Be able to produce business artifacts to a very high standard.Excellent understanding of modelling techniques and methods.Knowledge and experience in conducting cost/benefit analyses.Understanding of and experience with developing and obtaining approval for business cases.Better Business Case Methodology.Requirements gathering.Business process mapping.Modelling tools an advantage.A minimum of 5 years' experience in a similar role.Keeps knowledge up to date and participates in ongoing professional development.Understanding of technical documentation.Understanding of system development methodologies.Skills:The following Skills Framework for the Information Age (SFIA) technical skills are required for this role:• Requirements Definition and Management (REQM)Qualifications / Requirements:Applicants have working rights in New ZealandCertificate Business Analyst Professional (CBAP) or equivalent an advantageRelevant tertiary qualification containing significant component of statistics or other mathematical disciplines, or equivalent experience preferred.If you are an internal applicant, you must apply internally through the police system.
