Audit - Internal (Accounting) Local Government (Government & Defence) Auckland Council's Risk and Assurance team has an opportunity for a Senior Internal Auditor to join the team. This role will report directly to Head of Risk & Audit and will be based in the Auckland CBD. This is a critical role for leading the planning, development, execution, and delivery of a variety of audit activities within Council and applicable CCOs. As a Senior Internal Auditor, you will maintain impartiality, independence and transparency when overseeing conflict of interest practices. Expectations around the role include: • Conduct of audits, assessments, and investigations as appropriate in accordance with best practices and good practice methodologies. • Provision of specialised advice, correspondence, recommendations, and reports for senior leaders • Maintaining best practice audit methodology, good quality key audit documents, such ast limited to briefs, workpapers and reports which correctly reflect fieldwork findings. • Working collaboratively with the audit team and the wider Risk and Assurance team, including Senior Risk Advisors and the Principal Advisor Ethics, Conduct and Fraud To be successful in this role you will have a sound understanding of organisational strategy, business needs and key drivers. You will likely have experience within large and complex and potentially political organisations. Well-developed analytical skills and ability to take a methodical & systematic approach will be essential to this role. As a Senior Internal Auditor, you will be developing and maintaining collaborative relationships We will be looking for: • Degree-level qualification in business or other relevant discipline • Professional qualification in relevant field, e.g., Certified Internal Auditor, NZICA, ISACA is desirable. • 5+ years' experience of internal / external audit or risk management in a complex local government, public or private sector environment In return, you will be immersed in a team of experts and see you connect across Council with other specialists to further develop your experience and expertise.
