Who we areThe Electricity Authority Te Mana Hiko regulates the electricity system and markets. This means a substantial and rapid increase in electricity demand, powered by doubling the supply of renewable electricity generation. A critical part of our role at the Authority is resolving the challenges the country will face as it goes through this transformation. About the roleWe are looking for a senior analyst to join the Electricity Authority's Network Pricing team. Our remit includes transmission pricing and distribution pricing. Efficient network prices can support an affordable transition to a low-emissions economy - by sending price signals to coordinate network use and encourage the right investment in the right place at the right time. If you want to make a difference for consumers in the transition to a low-emissions economy - then we want to hear from you. As a seasoned professional, you will be working on high-profile projects to make key improvements to the rules that govern the electricity industry. This will involve providing specialist advice on regulatory economics to the Authority, supporting the Director - Network Pricing and sharing expertise with colleagues in the Network Pricing team. You will liaise across other Government agencies, engage directly with industry, manage external experts and front advice to a sophisticated and experienced Board. Are you someone with the following?This position requires excellent interpersonal, critical thinking and project management strengths. You will be someone who relishes the opportunity to bring new ideas, techniques and knowledge to research and policy discussions and influence the direction of policy.Key attributes : Demonstrated understanding of regulatory economics and network pricing Ability to lead the development of authoritative, innovative, evidence-based, practical and durable policy options Ability to provide robust technical advice, underpinned by rigorous analysis A proven track record of delivering high-quality written work to tight deadlines Previous experience running consultation processes with a range of stakeholders Strong relationship management and verbal communication skills Experience in collaborating with team members on fast-paced projects Ability to manage and work through issues that involve ambiguity and complexity A can-do attitude and high level of initiative, sound judgement and discretion Work experience in electricity or the wider utility sector beneficial (but not essential).What we can offerWe know that it is important to maintain a healthy work-life balance and in recognition of the Authority offers several benefits and initiatives to support our staff achieve this.
