It's an exciting time to work in the electricity industry. New Zealand has committed to achieving net zero emissions by 2050, through electrification of transport and process heat. This means a substantial and rapid increase in electricity demand, powered by doubling the supply of renewable electricity generation. A critical part of our role at the Authority is resolving the challenges the country will face as it goes through this transformation.
About the role We are looking for a senior analyst to join the Electricity Authority's Network Pricing team. Our remit includes transmission pricing and distribution pricing. Efficient network prices can support an affordable transition to a low-emissions economy - by sending price signals to coordinate network use and encourage the right investment in the right place at the right time. If you want to make a difference for consumers in the transition to a low-emissions economy - then we want to hear from you.
As a seasoned professional, you will be working on high-profile projects to make key improvements to the rules that govern the electricity industry. This will involve providing specialist advice on regulatory economics to the Authority, supporting the Director - Network Pricing and sharing expertise with colleagues in the Network Pricing team. You will liaise across other Government agencies, engage directly with industry, manage external experts and front advice to a sophisticated and experienced Board.
