We stand for a strong and trusted financial sector that treats people fairly.Our team delivers proactive and strategic multi-year, annual and intra-year system leadership role in domestic and international stakeholder relations and communications, facilitating/coordinating engagement including with relevant consumer and industry bodies. We are responsible for outward facing communications and engagement.This role will be ultimately responsible for ensuring the FMA has crisp, coherent and clear messaging in its engagement with the firms it regulates, including industry bodies such as the Financial Services Council, Financial Advice New Zealand and the New Zealand Bankers Association.You'll be joining our External Relations & Communications team, working to the Manager, External Relations.You will develop and refine the FMA's stakeholder engagement strategy as it works with the financial services sector to implement the Conduct of Financial Institutions regime, which comes into force in 2025. You'll be comfortable drafting the first cut of a speech for a senior leader, getting started on a presentation to an industry body or preparing submissions to a select committee.You'll provide support to FMA leaders and key staff in their external engagements, demonstrating your ability to provide formal and informal briefings on issues moving at pace.You'll also be comfortable quickly moving between projects across the team to assist as needed.First and foremost, you will be a sharp writer, but you'll understand the need to ensure your copy works for everyone. You'll bring with you a background in stakeholder engagement, external communications or government relations with strong organisational skills and the willingness to proactively build a network.Ideally, you'll have knowledge of NZ's financial regulatory landscape and an understanding of FMA's regulatory remit, however a strong curiosity and interest coupled with outstanding stakeholder relations skills is a good start.With your outstanding written and verbal communication skills, you'll have the ability to work comfortably at all levels in an organisation (including senior leadership), as well as displaying a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.What we offer - Nga paingaA strong emphasis is placed on life/work balance, enabling you to be at your best in every aspect of your life.
