About the role This is a pivotal leadership role that doesn't come up often in which you will lead a business unit responsible for the functions of Security Vetting Delivery (national security clearances) in New Zealand on behalf of all New Zealand government agencies. The Security Vetting Unit Manager provides leadership, strategic direction, operational guidance and risk management to the Security Vetting Unit.
With a strong service delivery focus, you will ensure that the activity of the unit is relevant, fit-for-purpose and that staff in the unit are supported to deliver with passion, enthusiasm and excellence.
You will also be a member of the New Zealand Security Intelligence Service's Protective Security Directorate leadership team. The role plays a significant part in working with other leadership team members and the Deputy Director-General of Protective Security in establishing organisational and Directorate strategy and business plans.

Ideally you have:
10 years of strong leadership experience.Demonstrated success in strategic planning and stakeholder management.Excellent relationship management skills and strong customer service ethic are essential. You are enthusiastic and self-motivated with success in leading the delivery of business outputs in high volume, high quality production environments.
To be eligible for employment within the NZIC you must have been a NZ citizen for at least 10 years. Alternatively you must hold a current NZ Residency Class Visaandideally have been a citizen of UK, USA, Canada or Australia for at least 10 years.
You must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret Special (TSS) security clearance. Ordinarily to obtain this level of clearance candidates must have a 15 year checkable background in countries where meaningful and reliable checks can be undertaken. Where requisite checks are unable to be made, the candidate application may not be able to be progressed.
