We value role modelling manaakitanga as demonstrated by Ngati Whatua in the gifting of their whenua on which our hospitals stand.We aspire to having a workforce reflective of the communities we serve and achieving equitable outcomes for all.Te whiwhinga mahi The OpportunityIn this position, you will be responsible for the operational and people management of the General Microbiology team.This role includes training and staff development, rostering, review of SOP and oversight of process improvement projects.You will ensure the delivery of high quality and timely services in line with clinical expectations with an over-all emphasis on quality outcomes.You will also have the primary responsibility for maintaining the section's accreditation against the standard ISO 15189 and will contribute to departmental strategic and business planning as required.For further details, please refer to the position description here.Nga Pukenga Motuhake Important SkillsTo be successful in this role you will have the following skills and attributes : At least 5 years' experience as a senior Medical Laboratory Scientist working in a diagnostic medical laboratoryPrevious experience in Diagnostic Microbiology is essentialDemonstrable skills with Microsoft Office products at a minimum intermediate levelDetailed knowledge of the ISO15189(22) standardsPrevious people management or leadership experience is essential with experience in performance management and developmentPrevious experience in the training and development of staffExcellent written and verbal communicationFlexibility to suit the service demands with the ability to prioritise and deliver to deadlinesExperience in quality management system is essential with a working knowledge of computer-based systems within the context of a Medical LaboratoryRegistration with the Medical Sciences Council of NZ and current APCWe are a values based and inclusive organisation that is committed to deliver the best health outcomes for our total population.To do this we are working hard to develop a robust and capable workforce that reflects the population we serve.
