We are seeking a driven and enthusiastic emerging Scientist to join our Environmental Science team on a full-time basis. The main purpose of this role is to design, lead and manage research projects focusing on greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions in agricultural systems, with particular emphasis on mitigating nitrous oxide (N2O) emissions. The role will also require active participation in preparing research proposals.
This is an exciting opportunity for a researcher with a background in soil, environmental science or agricultural science, and a strong interest in N cycling and GHG mitigation. You will have much independence in making this role your own, while being supported and mentored by established researchers who are world-leaders in their areas of research. You will also have opportunities to work on international projects, as well as communicating the impacts of your research to our end-users and stakeholders.
Job Title: Scientist Nitrous Oxide Emissions
Minimum and maximum base salary: $85,482 to $100,568
Minimum guaranteed hours work per week: 40
Days required: Monday to Friday

. What you will be doing Designing, leading and/or managing research projects on measuring the impact of mitigation strategies on N2O emissions. Working with the research associates in our team to ensure experimental trials are established and conducted according to required protocols and operating procedures. Providing ideas for new projects to the research team and national/international collaborators and helping write research proposals. . Your ideal background Post-graduate qualification in a related field. At least 2 years of relevant work experience. Strong English communication and written capabilities, evidence by publications in high impact scientific journals. Experience with measuring nitrous oxide emissions from agricultural soils and evaluating mitigation technologies (e.g. plantain or nitrification inhibition). Experience in using scientific methodologies for all research, including literature searching; hypothesis-based experimental design and statistical analysis. Ability to follow rigorous development and documentation procedures for research protocols.
