Sample Preparation Assistant

Job DescriptionThis Fixed Term role to assist in the preparation and analysis of mineral samples on a fulltime basis, reporting to the Westport Laboratory Manager. This is a fixed-term role to cover for maternity leave. Role is part of roster rotating through a 4 on 4 off 12 hour dayshift pattern.ResponsibilitiesTo receive, register, prepare and analyse mineral samples in accordance with the standard operating procedures in the laboratory to ensure a high service level is maintained.Day to day upkeep of equipment and general housekeeping of workstationsTo produce a reasonable number of samples each day to ensure sufficient daily output.To ensure all activities are carried out with regard and recognition of Health and Safety requirements and personal safety.Undertake all other relevant work requests.QualificationsExperience in preparation and analysis of samples is desirable but not critical.Ability and experience in carrying out instructions accurately and in a timely manner.Attention to detail.Reliable.Comfortable within a system-based working environment.Ability to keep accurate records.Ability to work with others in a team environment.Good organisational skills.
