Queenstown Lakes District Council is in search of a Risk and Compliance Advisor to join their small yet high performing Risk and Compliance Management team. The successful candidate will be entrusted with the task of providing expertise, guidance, tools, and processes to aid in fostering an effective risk and compliance culture throughout the organisation. About the Role: As a Risk and Compliance Advisor, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the risk management strategy within the organisation. You will provide expert advice on risk mitigation strategies while ensuring adherence to regulatory standards. Your responsibilities will include developing systems, processes, tools, and templates to support the implementation of risk management frameworks across the organisation. You will also contribute to ongoing development efforts to ensure effective management of risk for the organisation on an ongoing basis. Furthermore, you will lead strategic risk assurance activities while facilitating the development of operational risk profiles with various teams across the council.
Provide counsel, guidance, tools, and processes to aid in fostering an effective risk and compliance culture throughout the organisation.Guide and support the organisation in implementing and maintaining risk and compliance systems and frameworks.Responsible for training related to risk and compliance management.Leading periodic strategic risk and compliance workshops.Facilitating the development of operational risk and compliance profiles with different teams.Developing QLDC's understanding of risk interconnectedness (Risk Ecology), by identifying patterns and trends, and opportunities for collaboration.

What you will bring: The ideal candidate for this position will have a demonstrated ability to improve processes and systems effectively. You are confident using Microsoft Office applications and have relevant qualifications at diploma level or equivalent. A law qualification or legal graduate status would be advantageous. Your excellent organisational skills enable you to prioritise multiple responsibilities effectively to meet deadlines.
Minimum 3 years' experience in a similar role.Demonstrated experience in process/system improvement.Ability to administer systems and processes effectively.Systems savvy and confident user of Microsoft office.Law qualification/Legal Graduate preferable, but not necessary

This role involves providing well-researched advice on regulatory compliance, contributing to projects that enhance team systems and processes, and building effective relationships with stakeholders. This is a fixed term role that will be circa 12 months, with a salary range of $75,000 - $85,000.
This role will focus on adding value and support to the internal audit process, gaining exposure to a wide variety of audits and business units.
