This is an exciting opportunity to work with Iwi and hapu, across the motu to advance their interests and aspirations in relation to the moana. The Maori Commercial Aquaculture Claims Settlement Act 2004 established the Maori Commercial Aquaculture Trust; Te Ohu Kaimoana is their trustee. We are owned by 58 Iwi and support them in their aquaculture aspirations. The Act is the only prospective settlement enabling iwi to be in the business of aquaculture ahead of industry. We work alongside Iwi from all different regions and support them to have the appropriate data and insights to inform individual iwi decisions that will be reached as a collective.
To ensure the anticipated growth of space and value of each area is settled fairly for Iwi, by the Crown, Te Ohu Kaimoana runs a set of economic data analytical models. Further to this, with the growth of technology, infrastructure, and scientific research comes the ability to farm different species. Guided by our Pou Take Whakatewha| Principal Advisor and the Kurae Moana | Manager – Oceans, the successful candidate will be working with existing models across multiple Excel spreadsheets to update the forecast from 2025 to 2050 and creating new models for new species and for open ocean aquaculture.
To be successful in this role you will bring:
Proven experience developing reports and/or databases to collect and display data, including designing, and constructing data pipelines, models, sets, insights, and reporting.Understanding of analysing, reconciling, and interpreting data into meaningful information, insights, and reporting.Working knowledge of data and insight practices including data management.Experience driving data continuous improvement initiatives, including effectively and consistently identifying data risks, issues, and gaps.Proficiency in reporting tools and technologies, primarily Excel.Ability to work with Maori organisations and/or Iwi groups.#J-18808-Ljbffr
