Matawhaiti Residence has been in operation since January 2017. It is a civil detention facility for very high risk individuals who are subject to public protection orders under the Public Safety (Public Protection Orders) Act 2014. The facility is designed to assist individuals develop important life skills within a supportive and supervised environment in order to successfully reintegrate back into the community. The facility has been in operation since January 2017.
Key to the success of this role will be your ability to supervise, motivate and positively influence the residents while working as a part of a small team. Your ability to also maintain clear and professional boundaries at all times, provide practical solutions to day to day issues, manage risk and effectively communicate with people at all levels, is essential to the success of this role.
Reporting directly to the Residence Manager, this position operates on a 24/7 roster pattern, rotating between 12-hour day and night shifts over an 80 hour fortnight. A typical shift as a Residence Supervisor will see you:
-Monitor residents and oversee assistant staff while ensuring the orderly functioning of the facility
-Prepare and implement residents’ individual management plans
-Facilitate a programme of daily activities aimed to assist residents develop pro social life skills
-Work cooperatively with residents towards their eventual reintegration into the community
-Lead the facility’s response to emergency or incident situations occurring within the residence.
